Dogs bring hair, dander, outdoor dust and the occasional muddy paw to bed. Bedding still only needs a sensible routine, not a daily one.
How often
| Item | Dog sleeps on it nightly | Dog visits occasionally |
|---|---|---|
| Pillowcases | Twice a week | Weekly |
| Fitted and flat sheet | Weekly | Every 10 to 14 days |
| Duvet cover | Every 1 to 2 weeks | Every 3 to 4 weeks |
| Throw on the dog's spot | Twice a week | Weekly |
Before the machine
Shake each piece outdoors or over a hard floor, then run a damp rubber glove over it. Hair that goes into the drum ends up back on the fabric or in the drain filter.
Settings
- Bamboo viscose (Furify): cold, gentle cycle, mild detergent, tumble dry low. No bleach, no softener.
- Cotton: warm is fine; hot for a periodic deep clean.
- Microfibre: warm, low heat drying to limit static.
Smells and stains
For doggy odour, add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse. For paw prints, pre-treat with diluted detergent and cold water; heat sets protein stains.
Drying
Empty the lint filter before and after a bedding load. Line drying is kind to bamboo viscose; if you tumble dry, take it out slightly damp and smooth it flat to avoid creasing.
Make it easier
Two sets in rotation, a throw on the dog's spot, and a smooth weave that releases hair. Furify's complete set covers the whole bed in one matching set; the bedding guide explains what each set includes.
